Today in class we had the opportuntity to experiement with Proloquo2go on the IPod Touch. We were shown how to create folders in Prologuo2go that had direct messages in them personally designed for a student who is non-verbal. We were first directed in making a friend category so that when the student wanted to converse with her friends she would know to go directly to this category. When the friends category was selected there was another category that could be selected that was called BFF. This stood for Best friend forever. So this category was obviously used for conversing with the students closest friends. The direct messages included phrases like:
Do you want to have a sleep over?
Do you want to watch a movie?
The class then decided to add a friend group conversation at home and at school. We created them as new categories.
Each category and direct message also has a symbol next it which is very important to have that as a visual.

We joined grids to "Do you want to..." This is some that we added under the school category.
go to the playground

play soccer

help me with my work

These are some that we added under the home category.
Do you want to.....
watch a movie
play a card game
eat a snack
It was important to map out all of the categories we thought should be included to assist this girl in communicating effectively before entering them into Proloquo2go. I had fun with the different functions of the ipod and I look forward to experiementing with them again tomorrow.
